CEN TC Standards - European specific product category rules for construction products

The following EN standards are a mandatory basis for EPDs from Bau EPD GmbH and the content of these standards has been adopted in all product-specific PCR from Bau EPD GmbH, if such have already been created (see: Product-specific PCR). In the case of revisions, new content will be incorporated into the appropriate PCR in a timely manner.

• EN 16783: 2017 - Thermal insulation products – Product category rules (PCR) for factory made and in-situ formed products for preparing environmental product – Information: References still to EN 15804+A1
• EN 16783: 2024 - Thermal insulation products – Product category rules (PCR) for factory made and in-situ formed products for preparing environmental product – Information: Reference to EN 15804+A2-Bau EPD has PCR-B– Info: Work is already underway on a standardisation request for an hEN standard in accordance with the Construction Products Regulation 2024 - as soon as this is available, a full revision is to take place (probably 2025/26)
• EN 16757:2017 - Sustainability of construction works - Environmental product declarations - Product Category Rules for concrete and concrete elements – Information: References still to EN 15804+A1 - Bau EPD has PCR-B
• EN 16757:2022 - Sustainability of construction works - Environmental product declarations - Product Category Rules for concrete and concrete elements – Information: Reference to EN 15804+A2, BAU EPD has PCR-B, Information: There is a standardisation request from the EU Commission for a revision of the hEN standards for concrete in accordance with the Construction Products Regulation 2024, so the PCR must be revised by the end of 2025.
• EN 16908:2017 - Cement and building lime. Environmental product declarations. Product category rules complementary to EN 15804 – Information: References still to EN 15804+A1, Bau EPD has PCR-B, important for Bau EPD PCR for concrete products etc.
• EN 16908:2022+Amendment1 - Cement and building lime. Environmental product declarations. Product category rules complementary to EN 15804 – Information: Reference to EN 15804+A2, Bau EPD has PCR-B, important for Bau EPD PCR for concrete products etc.
• EN 17213:2018 - Windows and doors – Environmental Product Declarations – Product category rules for windows, roof windows and external pedestrian doorsets – Information: References still to EN 15804+A1, Bau EPD has PCR-B
• EN 17213:2023+Amendment1 - Windows and doors – Environmental Product Declarations – Product category rules for windows, roof windows and external pedestrian doorsets – Information: Reference to EN 15804+A2 – BAU EPD has PCR-B
• EN 16485:2014 - Round and sawn timber - Environmental Product Declarations - Product category rules for wood and wood-based products for use in construction – Information: References still to EN 15804+A1- BAU EPD has PKR-B, revision is currently underway, publication expected in 2025
• EN 17328:2024 - Complementary product category rules for gypsum - based construction products) - Reference to EN 15804+A2 - Bau EPD has PKR-B

The following PCR must be considered as soon as a product specific PCR is created under the programme of Bau EPD GmbH:

• EN 16578:2016 - Ceramics sanitary appliances - Sustainability assessment – Information: References still to EN 15804+A1, a draft from 2019 has been withdrawn
• EN 16810:2017 - Resilient, textile and laminate floor coverings - Environmental product declarations - Product category rules – Information: References still to EN 15804+A1! Information: a revision has been taking place since 2023 to 2024, publication presumably in 2025
• EN 17074:2020 - Glass in building - Environmental product declaration - Product category rules for flat glass products – Information: References still to EN 15804+A1, Revision takes place, enquiry not planned until 2025
• EN 17160:2019 - Product category rules for ceramic tiles – Information: References still to EN 15804+A1, Revision currently underway, publication expected in 2025
• EN 17662:2021 -  Environmental Product Declarations – Product category rules complementary to EN 15804 for Steel and Aluminium structural products, and other metal products, for use in construction works - Information: Referenced to EN 15804+A2, no solution to the ‘slag allocation debate’ incorporated yet, 2024/25 version will have to provide for economic allocation for slag
• EN 17610:2022 - Englisch: Building hardware – Environmental Product Declarations – Product category rules for building hardware) - Information: Reference to EN 15804+A2
• CEN/TR 16928:2016 Englisch: Guidance for the implementation of environmental aspects in product standards and system standards in the field of wastewater engineering - has been withdrawn!!!
• EN 50693:2019-Method for quantitative eco design via life cycle assessment and environmental declarations through product category rules for EEE
